As of March 2022, it is the most popular web browser of choice worldwide, with more than 62 of the web browser market share. This includes the 23% extortion tax on goods where I live and of course your Ipad has better screens than many laptops too. Google Chrome is a free web browser developed by Google, used for accessing web pages on the internet. The Samsung Galaxy Tablet had a far better screen than laptops up to around 1500 Euros. This seems to be a problem today and for the last few years, Laptop screens are absolutely shockingly bad, very dim and poor quality unless you want to spend 1500-2000 euro's to get a decent screen it's ridiculous, this Asus had the best screen out of 99% of the laptops under 1500 Euro. But it does have a decent oled 1080p screen. So I bought the Asus Vivobook instead and the build quality is not good. In office light it was very dim, outside ? forget it. I did get a new HP chromebook around 2 years ago, lovely machine powered by 10th gen I5 but it had one major flaw and that was a very dim screen so I returned it. Very basic budget system, 1366x768 screen, it is touch screen. The Acer of course isn't helped by 4GB ram and Emmc drive. I have an old windows machine with an 5th gen Intel I5 that would run Chrome OS much better.
It was my take anywhere machine, extremely robust, fell on the ground numerous times, bashed around by the kids when they were smaller and it's a lot more robust than my much more expensive Asus vivobook which has very weak plastic compated to that old Acer R11, seriously, I'm not very impressed with Asus build quality for a 1000 Euro machine ! I absolutely detest laptops out of aluminium like the Macbooks, scratch very easily and dent, hate them ! My 6 year old Acer R11 was slow when I got it, it only has a N3060 intel Chip but at the time it was fine for what I wanted it for.
People could run Chrome OS on much better computers than your average chromebook is and Google know this which is why they don't allow play store because sales of Chromebooks would be much less. I got better things to do that endlessly type out commands and I can't understand the fascination people have with it. Dont have Google Play The Opera Browser for Chromebook is optimized for the best performance on Chrome OS with perfect integration on your laptop. Just a few of the must-have features built into Opera for faster, smoother and distraction-free browsing designed to improve your online experience.
I did jailbreak my R11 and installed Linux but linux is boring, touch screen support is absolute shit and everything is running commands to do a lot of stuff, if there are installers for some software you usually find that they're out of date and in order to install a newer version you have to run tonnes of commands, I hate this and it makes linux very inefficient as a result, in my opinion and experience. Operas free VPN, Ad blocker, and Flow file sharing. You could buy a brand new Chromebook costing a lot of money for a decent spec only to find that in 2 years it might not be supported any more but you can jailbreak them and install windows if it has suitable hardware. So watch out for this, you can check with google when your Chromebook expires. One big disadvantage of Chromebooks is that they expire and no longer receive updates. I would like play store on Flex, it's practically useless without it.
